Cedar Privacy Fence with Steel Post Backing in Houston, TX

Replaced a failing wood-post fence with cedar pickets on steel posts and pressure-treated rails — the fence rebuild we do most often on the Houston Southside.
Project Overview
This fence repair project was completed by the Forged Fence & Deck crew in Houston, Texas during February 2026. Every job we take on in the Greater Houston Metro is planned around Gulf Coast conditions — clay soil movement, humidity, coastal wind loads, and heavy seasonal rain — so the finished product holds up long after installation day.
The fence between two Houston homes had turned into a domino line of leaning panels. We rebuilt it with cedar pickets fastened to pressure-treated rails, all backed by galvanized steel posts sunk in concrete on the neighbor-side of the fence line.
Highlights:
- Cedar pickets on pressure-treated 2x4 rails
- Galvanized steel posts, concrete-set
- Rebuild kept both neighbors happy — clean finished side out
- Full haul-off of the failed wood-post fence
Wood posts fail on the Houston Southside because our clay-heavy soil holds water. Every fence we install or repair uses steel posts for that reason. See more on our fence repair page.
Why Fence Repair Matters in Houston
Built for Gulf Coast Weather
Houston sees heavy rain, hurricane-force wind events, and expansive clay soils. Every post on this project was set in concrete to keep the structure plumb through wet/dry cycles.
Local Materials & Methods
We spec materials that perform in Houston — pressure-treated lumber, galvanized hardware, cedar rated for humidity, and powder-coated steel where corrosion is a factor.
